Great teaching transforms lives.

Ark Teacher Training is an ‘Outstanding’ two-year Initial Teacher Training programme that allows graduates and career changers to learn from some of the best teachers and leaders in the profession. We work mainly in areas of low income with a history of academic underachievement (this includes King Solomon Academy, the best state school in the country despite being in one of the poorest boroughs in London), because we believe that every child regardless of their background deserves to have access to a great education.

“Ark Teacher Training has made a strong contribution to the supply of outstanding teachers” – Ofsted, January 2017.

Unlike a university-based PGCE, you will be based in a school of your choice from day one, having an impact straight away. You’ll spend the whole academic year with your students watching them progress, as well as seeing your own development. The programme provides the perfect balance of theory and practice, which is why Ofsted recognises us as ‘Outstanding in all areas’ (Ofsted: 2017).

Our schools are in:

What you’ll receive:
You’ll have a dedicated tutor overseeing every aspect of your training, your very own coach offering advice and support, in-school staff dedicated to your development, access to education experts across the network and continuous support and guidance to build your confidence in managing a classroom and controlling behaviour.

What you’ll achieve:
At the end of you first year, you’ll have achieved the following:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • PGCE (postgraduate certificate in education) in your chosen teaching subject
  • 60 credits towards a Master’s degree

Most importantly, you’ll have made a tangible difference in transforming the lives of disadvantaged students (Department for Education). According to the Department for Education, Ark makes the biggest difference in transforming the lives of disadvantaged students of all the major academy groups.
