The UK’s capital city has some of the best and fastest-improving schools in the country, but there is still considerable work to be done to ensure that all children in London have access to excellent education. As a trainee at one of our 37 partner schools in London, you will work in a school that is every bit as diverse, vibrant and exciting as the city itself.

There are 37 partner schools in London: 15 primary schools, 10 secondary schools and 12 all through schools, each with their own character and ethos, spread across the city.

In London, we have multiple partner school groups, including Ark and Oasis Community Learning, as well as free schools such as Reach Academy Feltham.

Every single Ark school in London that has been inspected by Ofsted since joining the network has been judged “Good” or “Outstanding”. Many of our London schools work in local “clusters”, sharing best practice and resources – and meaning that trainees have a wealth of experience from talented staff to draw upon.

Among our Ark primaries in London is Ark Conway Primary Academy in West London, which was named as the highest-performing primary school in the country in 2015. Amongst Ark’s secondaries are Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton, with its inspiring RIBA Stirling Prize-winning building; and Ark Walworth Academy in Southwark, which hosted David Cameron and Malala Yousafzai in the UK’s first ever Girl Summit to tackle issues around forced marriage and FGM.

One of Ark’s great strengths in London is its all through schools, including King Solomon Academy off Edgware Road, named as the best school in the country in 2015 with an intake of more than 30% of pupils classified as ‘disadvantaged’; Ark Burlington Danes, Ark’s first school; and Ark John Keats Academy and Isaac Newton Academy, both of which achieved an “Outsanding” Ofsted report just two years after opening.

Oasis Community Learning exists to deliver ‘Exceptional Education at the heart of community.’ We are driven by a strong ethos of inclusion, hope, perseverance, healthy relationships and equality, which permeates all aspects of the life and culture in each academy.  All of our academies are committed to developing character and competence within every young person, raising their aspirations and providing the exceptional teaching and learning that they need to reach their full potential.

Amongst Oasis’ Primary Academies in London is Oasis Academy Byron. Following a recent Ofsted inspection that judged them to be ‘Outstanding’ in every area, their 2016 SATs results demonstrated 88% of pupils reached expected levels in Reading, Writing and Maths, compared to 53% nationally. Amongst Oasis’s Secondary Academies is Oasis Academy Coulsdon, Croydon’s Secondary School of the Year in 2015. In 2015 they also won a national ‘PiXL’ award, naming them ‘Most Improved Secondary School’ for that year.

I'm very happy I chose Ark. I can't imagine a better way to train.
